Tonight, my mom’s church friends treated us to dinner at the Walnut Creek Yacht Club. I realized, many fancy/pricier restaurants always have dimmer lights…now why is that?
According to the menu, it seems like they change the menu everyday, since they have the date printed at the top left corner.
What we ordered:
La Playa: This was SO GOOD! My sister and I devoured the one we shared and continued on to my mom’s barely touched one. To be honest, I’m not sure what’s in it. I think instead of normal salsa, they added seafood to it such as squid. Aside from that, they also added chicken. Even when we ran out of chips, my sister and I kept eating it.
Clam Chowder: If you go here, this one is a must order. Before I ordered, I did a quick check on yelp to see what people recommended and this was one of them. I am so glad I picked it. It tastes different than the clam chowder you find in SF or Monterey… perhaps more buttery? Anyhow, I have to say the clam chowder was perfect.
Pink Grouper: This was definitely an interesting try. I had a hard time deciding between this grouper or Swordfish. Anyhow, yes…it was interesting. The fish was very tender which I loved. The rice and curry on the other hand…it’s all up to personal preference I guess. It wasn’t bad, but the rice could’ve been better. The curry was mild/not spicy. One complaint I have is that on the menu, it said that the dish contained cashews, but I ended up tasting 1 cashew.
Affagato: This dessert was very very delicious until I added the espresso on the side. Augh, why’d i listen to my sister? I poured the whole cup of coffee into the bowl. x_x; Before that, the vanilla ice cream is probably one of the best I’ve ever tasted. It has a very good blend of milk and sugar (I think).
Overall, I loved the food at this restaurant. Everything was so fresh and unique tasting (in a good way). I suppose that explains why it’s so expensive.
If you have the money, go try it out. I doubt you will be disappointed.
