Genie (Tell me Your Wish) Japanese!

26 08 2010

Genie- SNSD (Japanese version)! I’m kind of surprised they came out with a Japanese version. It sounds a bit weird right now….but I guess it might be something you have to get used to. On the other hand, Mister- KARA (Japanese version) is pretty good :)

Anyways, I started school this week…so I’m a bit busy :/

New Chin Rest (violin)!!

21 08 2010

I got my old chin rest on my violin replaced today!! If I didn’t I would probably end up having TMJ , since my jaws were always hurting while I practiced… Anyways, my new chin rest looks funny

The shape is a bit weird…I’m still getting used to how I’m going to hold the violin. Unfortunately, the lady helping me didn’t play violin (she played cello)…so she wasn’t a complete expert on this either. The person I usually go to for violin repairs was on vacation though and doesn’t return till Labor Day (September 6). :(

ANYWAYS, I got the chin rest at Ifshin Violins and all the chin rests are around $20 there if you’re planning to get a new chin rest any time soon :P

The person I usually go to for repairs/violin checkup is Joan Balter. If you’re around the bay area and anything string instrument (violin, viola, cello, bass) related, I’d recommend her. She’s so pro.

weird new game

18 08 2010

So, my friend Henry and I were messing around with Jungle Chess and American Chess…and we came up with this:

The Technology I Wish I had in My Childhood

17 08 2010

Today, while eating lunch, the table next to us were parents and their son. The son was watching a movie or show on his parents’ itouch/iPhone while his parents were enjoying lunch :P Smart move.

Over the weekend- LA trip

11 08 2010

Over the weekend I went to LA. I’ll put posts corresponding to the days the events happened :)

Socal Trip: Day 3- Disneyland

9 08 2010

Third Day. We used the whole day for Disneyland! I didn’t take many photos considering I go to Disneyland so many times and pretty often compared to many of my friends.

However, for the first time ever, we ate at the Blue Bayou for lunch, thanks to Christine for reserving early. On the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, in the way beginning, you pass by a fairly dim “outdoor” restaurant, which is the Blue Bayou.

Based on many recommendations online, people seemed to really like “Le Special de Monte Cristo” (something like that)

Le Special Monte Cristo and Jambalaya

However, I can’t stand fried food for too long (or oily food). This was basically a fried sandwich with ham and cheese inside. On the bread, there is powdered sugar, and on the side, there is a jam for you to dip it in. After eating this plate, I was so full. I think my favorite parts of the food they served was: the Blue Bayou Potatoes (served on the side of some dishes) as well as their complementary jambalaya (for ordering crab cakes).

The other item I tried for the first time at Disneyland was…Dole Whip Float – found next to the Tiki Room

Basically, it’s just pineapple juice with pineapple ice cream on top. I recommend trying it! However, from my experience, the juice and ice cream taste like 2 different flavors of pineapple- bad mix. But that’s just me ^^;

That’s basically the 2 biggest new things I did. Aside from those, we got to watch Fantasmic as well as fireworks. Fantasmic is still as pretty as I remember it was from the last time I saw it. :]

Oh, to show off ;) here’s my Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters score

Socal Trip Day 2: Universal Studios

8 08 2010

First theme park we went to was Universal Studios. Overall, it was a pretty fun experience. I watched so many Universal Studios movies (Jaws, Psycho, Terminator, etc.) before the trip so I would understand most of the trip Read the rest of this entry »

New Headphones!- Aerial 7 Tank (blue)

5 08 2010

I got my headphones today!

the Aerial 7 Tank Blue

front

back of box

>w< ahh it’s so nice that I don’t want to open the box and use it! Originally, i really wanted the Beat headphones by Dr. Dre, but it was way too expensive (someone was paying for everyone in the family…) so we got these headphones instead. Fortunately, my sister received hers a day before me, and let me try them out. The sound quality is <3 and it blocks out most other sound too! The bass is really nice, but not only that, I can hear the singer too. Nice balance. I usually use the Sony MDRQ68LW Clip-on headphones (which i still love), but wow, this Aerial 7 really wins by a lot. Aside from sound quality, you can talk on the Aerial 7, which is perfect for iPhone (though, kind of not sure how you’re going to use it when you’re driving).

Downfall: The blue is darker than I thought it would be. I wonder how it looks on me…

Off to Los Angeles tomorrow!! :)
